NuTyX is a French Linux distribution (with multi-language support) built from Linux From Scratch and Beyond Linux From Scratch, with a custom package manager called cards. The project has published a new release, NuTyX 10.0, which is available in 32-bit and 64-bit builds. There are two editions, one is a base image without a desktop and the other ships with an Xorg graphical environment. The new release also features a graphical front-end for package management called Flcards. “No need to used command line to search, install or remove packages. Flcards is able to install directly a graphical interface. You can choose between LXDE, LXQt, MATE, KDE5 and Xfce4. The Xorg ISO can be used to make an entire post-installation in graphical mode via Flcards application. Flcards uses administrator rights without password. If you’re against this rule, get rid of the Flcards package and use the CLI or edit the /etc/sudoers to fit your needs. xorg-app, xorg-font, xorg-proto and xorg packages are now split. The Xorg meta package is removed. All the Xorg packages are now in separated packages. The documentation is updated.” Further information can be found on the project’s news page. The project has released a new development snapshot, NuTyX 9.92, which fixes Intel video support and improves HP printer support. “The NuTyX team is pleased to announce the 9.92 release of NuTyX. The NuTyX project has released a maintenance update, version 9.1, for the distribution’s 9.x series. “The NuTyX team is please to announce the 9.1 release of NuTyX. NuTyX 9.1 comes with Linux kernel 4.9.23, glibc 2.25, GCC 6.3.0, Binutils 2.28, Python 3.6.0, X.org Server 1.19.2, Qt 5.8.0, Plasma 5.9.4, kf5 5.31.0, GNOME 3.22.2, MATE 1.18.0, Xfce 4.12.3, Firefox 54.0.1. New ISO images are available in 32-bit and 64-bit editions. This is a maintenance release of the 9.0 branch of NuTyX. It is possible to do an upgrade of your system without problems. There is no need to re-install your NuTyX. If the automatic upgrade process is activated, it will be done at next shutdown. Thierry Nuttens has announced the availability of a new version of the NuTyX distribution. NuTyX is based on Linux From Scratch (LFS) and features a custom software manager called “cards”. The new release, NuTyX 9.0, features some of the latest software (Linux 4.10, Plasma 5.9, GNOME 3.22, MATE 1.16 and Python 3.6) and now supports booting on UEFI-enabled hardware. “The new ISOs can be launch on UEFI machines If you have a UEFI compatible computer, you can now install NuTyX in UEFI mode. If it’s your case, the installer will guide the user to make the right choices during installation and the UEFI will take care of booting the machine, no other boot managers are needed by default. It is up to the end user to decide or not for choosing one if needed. You can find a tutorial, how to install on UEFI machines, on the web page documentation and on YouTube channel. ISO can be loaded 100% in memory if the target computer has more then 1GB of RAM. The USB key can then be disconnected and then make the single USB port available. Thierry Nuttens has announced the launch of a new release candidate for the NuTyX distribution, version 9.0. NuTyX is a Linux distribution built from Linux From Scratch and Beyond Linux From Scratch which features a custom package manager called “cards”. The new development snapshot features support for booting on UEFI-enabled computers, a new long term support release kernel and the installation media can be loaded entirely into a computer’s RAM, freeing up the DVD drive or USB port. “The new ISOs can be launched on UEFI machines; if you have a UEFI-compatible computer, you can now install NuTyX in UEFI mode. If it’s your case, the installer will guide you to make the correct choices during installation and the UEFI will take care of booting the machine; no other boot manager is needed by default. It’s up to the end user to decide whether to choose one if needed. The ISO image can be loaded in RAM if the target computer has more then 1GB of RAM. The USB key can then be removed, making the single USB port available again. A number of fixes have been applied to improve wireless networking and the default version of Python has been updated to Python 3. “NuTyX 8.2.93 available with cards 2.1.105. The NuTyX team is please to announce the development release 8.2.93 of NuTyX. More then 1500 commits since version 8.2. New ISOs are available in 32- and 64-bits There sizes are respectively about 219MB and 224MB. The available graphical interfaces are: KDE Plasma, MATE, Xfce, LXDE, FLWM, TWM, JWM, Blackbox, Openbox, Ratpoison. Third development version for the next stable version of NuTyX 8.3 planned to be release for beginning of March. The wireless post-configuration have been improved. The ESSID bug is corrected.
